CASE STUDY - Old George Mall, Salisbury
Our shopping centre team managed Old George Mall in Salisbury on behalf of Doughty Hanson from January 2009 until its sale in June 2011. We worked very closely with the owners and the retail and professional agents to improve and enhance the scheme.
Refurbishment or enhancement programmes were either completed or programmed on the public spaces, car park, and public WCs. Having undertaken a full review of the service charge, we advised the owners on changing the basis of recovery from rateable values to one based on areas. We also significantly increased the net income from the car park.
In order to boost the scheme’s image, we brought in a new marketing team who undertook in-depth research to rebrand and reposition the centre.
All these changes contributed to an improvement in the centre which, as a result, attracted new retailers including Top Man, Top Shop, Fat Face, Hotel Chocolat and Boston Tea party.
